I reached for a bottle, a pill, a haze, To quiet the ghosts of my hardest days. The hurt in my chest felt heavy as stone, And I grew so tired of carrying it alone. The medicine promised a moment of peace, A temporary shelter, a brief release. But pain is a shadow that follows the light, Waiting in silence to return every night. What started as comfort became a chain, A circle of numbness, a cycle of pain. The things meant to help me slowly took more, Until I forgot what I was fighting for. Yet somewhere beneath all the sorrow and fear, A voice kept whispering, "You're still here." Not broken, not lost, not beyond repair, Just wounded and searching for someone to care. Healing is harder than fading away, But strength is choosing to face one more day. To ask for a hand when the road feels long, To believe that tomorrow can still hold a song. The pain may not vanish, the scars may remain, But hope can grow quietly through the rain. And the life that addiction tried hard to erase Can bloom once again in a kinder place.
