The moon is shining, cold and bright, Owls are growling in the night. A shadow lingers by my pane— Not quite human, yet not plain. I see a creature take its flight, But seconds later, it loses height. I step outside—no magic found, Just a bat upon the ground. I inch in closer, heart unsure, Something feels strange, yet so pure. Its broken wing trembles with fear, Yet it flees before I near. Back to the night, it disappears, Claimed again by unseen fears.
