(For Salem) Your eyes radiate warmth When the sun shines over them a golden hue rests And when I look into them I'm reminded of a warm spring day when the sun is about to set. They reflect the dirt that helps nature grow The start to a small seed that will sprout into a beautiful flower A magical thing we can all behold. They are a rich tasting chocolate bar One you buy after a bad day When all you need is a little sweet treat to get you through the rest of it. They remind me of coffee, But not the bitter ones that leave a bad aftertaste Or the ones that are too sweet to ingest then make you feel sick, They are the kind of coffee that's the perfect blend of cream, sugar, and coffee grounds It safely travels over my taste buds with delicious flavors that I savor. Your eyes make me travel to a place of safety and comfort If I could, I'd look into them forever just so I can stay there. They show hidden depths of the soul you protect I can see the pain and anguish you hide That you can't see with the naked eye. I hope that someday you are able to let go of that pain And that the anguish will subside. But until then, I will try my best to find the right words And the right gestures To help them let go and subside in a moment, Because you deserve to be happy And to show a smile that's not forced. I will look into your eyes And speak to the soul you protect The words of care and kindness And love so truly spoken That come straight from my heart.
