Beneath a sky of ash and stone, A broken soul did stray, No light to guide, no warmth to hold, Just night that chokes the day. Oh, darkness hums, oh, darkness calls, Its cradle cold and deep, The void it whispers, “Come to me,” And lulls the heart to sleep. Her steps were slow, her breath a blade, Each thought a jagged scar, The world a cage of silent screams, Its bars both near and far. She stood where cliffs in shadow loomed, Their edges sharp with fate, The wind howled low, a siren’s dirge, Urging her to escape. Oh, darkness hums, oh, darkness calls, Its cradle cold and deep, The void it whispers, “Come to me,” And lulls the heart to sleep. No stars could pierce that endless black, No voice could break the spell, Her memories, like ghosts, did fade, In grief’s unyielding hell. She reached for hands that weren’t there, For love long turned to dust, The cold embrace of nothingness Was all she’d grown to trust. Oh, darkness hums, oh, darkness calls, Its cradle cold and deep, The void it whispers, “Come to me,” And lulls the heart to sleep. She stepped to meet the yawning dark, No cry to mark her fall, The abyss swallowed every trace, As if she’d never called. And still it waits for wandering souls, Its hunger never fed, A ballad sung in shadowed tones, For those who join the dead. Oh, darkness hums, oh, darkness calls, Its cradle cold and deep, The void it whispers, “Come to me,” And lulls the heart to sleep
