I am mortar, cracked, spread thin as spackle waiting, weathered on brittle broken red brick pulsing pavement in my veins, cemented to my soul in past lives, I paced gravel roads, kicking rock & cobblestone now, i am a pebble being pushed, driven by the hands of fate drying from the tears of destiny's bludgeoned rain bits of my beating heart scrape the masonry sift every ash smear my wishes upon it all choking on the spalling grit of this ol' crumbling brick I am the mortar, I am the wall, I am the strength, the structure till it falls
