I watch Anxiety walk through the woods. He arrives at my picnic table with a smile. He sits down politely -- He isn't really rude. Just a fellow whose lips have gone wild. I invite him to have some coffee. He nods with haste. He adds salt to his coffee and I raise a brow. "Nothing's sweet in life," he states. I frown in confusion, he stands up with a bow. He performs a ballad. There once was a King named Peace. He ruled over his Kingdom with solitude. But came Doubt and ruined his place. He came to take away all love and gratitude. And from Doubt, came Anxiety and Fear. Fear was sheepish, cowardly even. Anxiety was rebellious, his intentions unclear. Both children grew with Chaos as heaven. Anxiety was pushed too many times. Forced to hide in cupboards when his parents fight. He grew up -- covered not with love, but with grime. Learned to anticipate for the worst that night. In Anxiety's compassion, he protected others. He reminded them of troubles and what could arrive. He didn't know his words appeared as slaughter. He never knew Peace of which his father had deprived. He finished his ballad and sat down. I clapped at his marvelous display. I told him he was lovely for acting that way. "But Anxiety", I said, "You're killing me." "Those words has come to be an enemy." "Each phrase you speak is a knife to my chest, A dagger to my heart and mind." He closes his eyes and apologizes. "I was only trying to be kind." And that was the little talk I had with Anxiety and coffee.
