Nothing is harder than the will to change, A choice alone won’t do—you must cast away The habits that led you back to the same mistakes, And people who never truly knew your face. The past is a shadow we carry on our backs, And with each new step, we circle the same tracks. And when at last you’re free and say, “Now I’ll begin,” Bitterly you realize how far behind you’ve been. Everyone wants change, yet none will transform, The gap from thought to action’s a chasm to cross. Content in their comfort, no one dares to disrupt, So fixed on themselves—what else could they trust?
