I am a poet, At least that's what I tell myself. My poems struggle more than I do, It's wrestling to reach the right audience, But it is always the loser. Maybe it's all my fault, My voice is unclear, My friends tell me my poems sound too white based, Alas to white people it's just somewhere in the between. So what's wrong if I can't write about African culture, Or I don't have a perfect poetic rhyme, I have one thing which is the most important, Emotions— Which carries the depth of the poem. Despite being different, All poems explain real emotions, But why does my poem have to go through the struggle.
