This poem was written by me long ago (2022) and posted on All poetry.com along with many other poems. I am posting this on this website again to elicit more comments and reviews from reader's of this website. The Ultimate Truth King or emperor or whatever thou art When time cometh for thee to depart, Thou shalt leave the earth all alone Sans that whilst living thou didst own. Thou may'st pardon those who beg For their life, hands or a leg, But thy life a reprieve will not get When it's time to pay thy debt. When thou wilt be no more, Nor thy riches nor thy queens four Will follow thee to thy grave, They will only thy name engrave. The bejeweled sword that thou once did wield Will have to the Reaper's power yield, The head that wore the grandest crown Will succumb to his scythe and fall down. While none will dare thee while thou art alive, Thy lifeless body will yield to the vermins live, While thou art interred three feet deep, Those above canst do nothing but weep. Eternal on Earth is neither a king, Nor a pauper nor any living thing, O, King! Like thee many wilt be gone And many a king will be born. But they too like thee will leave Their kingdom while the living will grieve, Everyone one day will be ground to dust As return to dust everyone must. Raghav R 27.1.2022
