I know I am not the only one awake. Lying in my bed, wrapped in quiet warmth, while my thoughts unravel and circle back, refusing to sleep beside me. Somewhere, someone sits by the seashore, their gaze emptied into the dark horizon, carrying a burden too heavy for their bones, the waves echoing what they cannot say. Somewhere else, beneath a distant moon, another heart aches with a hollow longing, a slow hunger gnawing from within, drafting sorrow into their ribs. Not far away, a student shuts their books, breath shuddering, eyes burning with sleep, yet the future presses against the mind like a door that will not close. And somewhere, a girl folds into prayer, begging for the ache in her body to loosen, for the beasts in human skin to fade from her doorway, while a dark, quiet ending waits at the edge of her thoughts, whispering of a relief she fears, yet almost believes in. Tonight, the world is stitched with sleepless rooms, silent breaths, unseen battles, and all of us, scattered beneath the same sky, awake together in the hush of the hour.
